Designer Bears

Steiff is a plush toy company, Steiff is based in Germany and is known for high quality and collectibility. It was begun by Margarete Steiff in 1880, later assisted by her brother Fritz. Their nephew Richard joined in 1897, who gave the company an enormous boost in popularity by creating the teddy bear in 1902.

The Steiff company motto is Only the best is good enough for children. Steiff products are subject to meticulous testing and inspection. They are required to be highly flame resistant. The most common materials used in Steiff toys are alpaca, felt and mohair. Eyes are generally made of wood or glass, and the stuffing is commonly wood shavings or polyester fiber.

In addition to this, glittering threads of gold have been hand-knotted into his soft fur coat. If you look into Teddy bear s eyes, you may get the impression that you are falling into a sky full of stars. Set in 750/000 (18 karat) yellow gold, the pupils of his eyes are made of two sapphire cabochons, each approximately 11 mm in diameter and around 6 karat, surrounded by twenty 0.025 karat diamonds. The Teddy bear s nose and mouth have been worked in pure 24 karat gold - like his anniversary medallion and the genuine Steiff Button in Ear . LOVING ATTENTION TO DETAIL GOES WITHOUT SAYING AT STEIFF.
